  • Friends of the Kaw provides information on educational paddle trips, river cleanups and virtual events and educational videos about the Kansas River. You can also find maps of the Kansas River watershed.

  • The Great Plains Nature Center provides information on field trip and outreach programs, summer programs, virtual programs and family events. You can also find access to pocket guides, at-home resources for continued learning, and a list of links to Wichita educational sites and other Kansas environmental sites to visit.

  • The Kansas Association of Conservation Districts provides lessons and activities, videos, and educational tools. You can also find information about Envirothon, conservation contests, youth field events and student scholarship opportunities.

  • The Kansas Association for Conservation and Environmental Education provides information on their Kansas Green Schools program, virtual events, and professional development courses for educators. They are also the Kansas facilitator of Project WET. Project WET is a water education program which focuses on water related topics such as atmospheric, surface, and ground water; water history; chemistry; watersheds; water economics; and water stewardship. 

  • Kansas Corn STEM provides lesson plans and activities (including homeschool resources), and teaching materials. You can also fill out request forms for events, professional development opportunities, and a mini grant for teachers.

  • The Kansas Department of Agriculture – Division of Conservation provides links to resources for educators and students, including lesson plans and activities.

  • The Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks created the Wildlife Education Service (WES) in 1981. The WES utilizes field staff, educational programs, and resources to enhance the knowledge, understanding and appreciation of Kansas' natural resources, especially wildlife.

  • The Kansas Farm Bureau provides lesson plans and activities as well as information on youth organizations, scholarship opportunities, and grants for educators.

  • Twin Lakes Water Festival for students

    The Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom provides lessons and activities, videos, posters, as well as grant and scholarship information.

  • The Kansas Geological Survey provides activity guides, maps, professional education resources and a High Plains Aquifer Interactive Atlas.  KGS also has a YouTube channel. Request an in-person visit or explore teaching materials on the aquifer and glaciers here. Or explore some of their interactive educational resources.

  • The Kansas Wetlands Education Center provides field trip and outreach information and exhibit information, family events, children’s programs, educator workshops, and a virtual tour of the center.

  • WaterOne is a water utility located in the Johnson County area and provides activities and videos (under KidZone). You can also find information on community events, river cleanups, and other programming here.

  •  From streams and wetlands to reservoirs and nature centers, Kansas offers countless opportunities for students to explore how water shapes our landscapes, communities, and daily lives. Visit "Discovering Water Through Exploration" to find water-focused field trips where students can discover, experiment, and connect with the water that shapes their world.
